Abstract


Under the MDG targets, the maternal mortality rate in East Java has surpassed the target, where
the MMR East Java in 2013 was 97.39 / 100,000 live births, and in 2014 93.52 / 100,000 live births.
However, when viewed in the absolute number of maternal deaths in East Java in 2012, is still high, there
are 449 cases of maternal death. This figure increased in 2013. Cause of Maternal Mortality most
occurring in eastern Java that Hemoraghic Post Partum (HPP), Preeklampsi / eclampsia, infections. The
factors that cause maternal mortality, for example 3 late (too late to make a decision, late arriving at the
health facility, and late in the medical aid) and 4 too (too young to get pregnant, too old to get pregnant,
too many children and too close spacing children). The participation of health care facilities also
determine appropriate referral planned so as to reduce the maternal mortality rate. Referral planned is a
reference that was developed in a simple, easy to understand, and can be prepared or planned by the
mother or the family in preparing for maternal and child health services. Contributions can be made by
students of midwifery that is by providing counseling, consultation and guidance early detection of
pregnant women in the city of Surabaya and mentoring high-risk mothers (RISTI). SDGs so that planning
can be done based on the achievement of the MDGs
